This conversion / upgrade can be done on most of the Ford Focus MK2.5, Ford Mondeo MK4 and MK4.5, Fiesta MK7, Kuga, Galaxy and other Ford vehicles that come up with Bluetooth hands-free option.
First generation modules allow using bluetooth but are restricted to calls-only. You can upgrade your system to allow sending music via bluetooth, and also via USB if you have an iPhone (as the module has iPod compatibility).
Before you start with the upgrade, make sure your radio and wiring is compatible with the new modules. To know this, you can either check your current module ref, and if you have the Sony radio, check the manuf. date.
Compatible:
If you have a Sony radio manufactered after June 2008, or if you have the following modules:
7S7T-19G488-XX
8M5T-19G488-XX
8M5T-19C112-XX
Not compatible:
If you have a Sony radio before April 2008 and 2007.
If you have one of these modules:
7M5T-19G488-XX
4M5T-19G488-XX
The previous modules are also labelled as "RX-1C". Meaning it allows mono-audio only. These will not be compatible, and requires wiring update, and most likely radio upgrade too. It can be done, but requires more work. This upgrade is not explained here.
If you have a compatible module, you're elegible for this upgrade.
In order to make this upgrade, you will need a Bluetooth module that allows Bluetooth streaming. The modules with this feature are 8M5T-19C112-XX.
The first X letter is the language of the module, before purchasing, make sure to choose your prefered language:
8M5T-19C112-A* English
8M5T-19C112-B* German
8M5T-19C112-C* French
8M5T-19C112-D* Spanish
8M5T-19C112-E* Italian
8M5T-19C112-F* Portuguese
8M5T-19C112-J* Turkish
The second letter is the revision of the module. The higher the letter, the most "new" the module is. It doesn't really matter which revision you get cause all are elegible for an update to fix issues and add iPod compatibility.
Have in mind that modules starting with 19C112-X(M) and before, have a propietary USB connection, check before adquiring a cable for USB. This is the same connector present is 8M5T-19G488.
Starting with 19C112-D(N), the connector is USB Mini B, now to be confused with Micro B, or Micro USB. You can get an official cable, or you can also get some cheap cable from any tech market or even Amazon.
You can purchase a module on Wallapop. You can also contact me if you need a module, or more information about compatibility or wiring.
Should be easy. The module in Focus and Mondeo is located inside the glovebox. You need to remove it to access the module. On the Mondeo, you need to unscrew a xxx and. On the Focus, you need to remove another part to get access to it.
With the radio OFF, replace the old module with the new one. Wait some seconds, and turn on the radio. You should be able to see bluetooth option pressing "CD/AUX" button on the Sony radio. Tap the "PHONE" option to link your phone with the radio.
